WHO WE ARE
District 1 is a subsidiary of Women of Reform Judaism: The Federation of Temple Sisterhoods. The district federation represents the 34 WRJ-affiliated Sisterhoods in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Eastern Connecticut. It is dedicated to encouraging understanding and support of the programs and projects of WRJ and to providing services to the district sisterhoods. The President of each affiliated sisterhood serves on the District 1 Board of Directors.

WHY WE EXIST
The purpose of the District is to foster closer connections with leaders and members of affiliated sisterhoods while serving as a liaison between the local Sisterhoods and Women of Reform Judaism.

WHAT WE DO
District activities offer WRJ members opportunities to share successes, discuss problems, acquire new skills and learn about WRJ's various activities and involvements. Based on WRJ positions and resolutions, the District can take action on issues on a state or regional basis.

BIENNIAL CONVENTION
Every two years District 1 holds a convention with a full program of workshops, spiritual opportunities, and social activities. District officers and a District Board are elected at the Convention.

REPRESENTATION ON THE WRJ BOARD
The District President serves on the Board of Directors of Women of Reform Judaism. In addition, members from District chapters who are on the WRJ Board of Directors serve on the District Board of Directors.
